چکیده

Background We examined executive functions by testing cognitive flexibility, problem solving and response maintenance means of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) on two consecutive days. This could render performance gains obtained in second assessment Mild Cognitive Impaired (MCI) subjects, contrast to a preserved function group (Control, CTRL group). Method 17 older adults were evaluated with several tests (Fig. 1) Neuropsi battery classify them groups: those three standard deviations below mean at least one (MCI group, n = 7) without this characteristic (n 10) 2). The WCST was delivered twice day-to-day (1 subject did not repeat his session). A computerized version programmed using e-prime software, v. 1, same time day. first categories randomly selected, then repeated. special keypad designed, which included four keys for each card option. Written feedback screen provided immediately. Result ANOVAs results show significant differences; nevertheless, % correct responses almost within sessions both groups (p < 0.07) also showed tendency towards significance between session 0.06) (Figs. 3, 4 & 5). Different subgroups emerged: from session, subgroup increased their frequency (CTRL group: 50%; MCI 16.66%; chi2 16.6; df p 0.0001); lacked flexibility remained 30%; 66.66%; 13; 0.0001), decreased number 20%; 0.30; 0.581). Conclusion In study, percentage responses, achieved may provide more flexible profile execution abilities adults, be informative detection so, transitional stages normality impairment.

The role of attention in Wisconsin Card Sorting Test performance.

The present study sought to test the hypothesis that the second factor (consisting of Failure-to-Maintain-Set and other scores) found in two recent factor analyses of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test reflects attentional function. The effect of color overlays (an experimental manipulation known to influence neural systems linked to attention) was examined in 17 normal control and 14 attention-di...

Wisconsin Card Sorting Test deficits in schizotypic individuals.

The present study investigates executive functioning in schizotypic college students and control subjects using the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). Inhibitory control and working memory, two aspects of executive functioning, were examined in deviantly high scorers on the Perceptual Aberration and Magical Ideation Scales (n=97), high scorers on the revised Social Anhedonia Scale (n=58), and ...

Perceptual aberrations, schizotypy, and the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test.

This study examined performance on the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) by 23 schizotypic subjects and 28 normal control subjects. Schizotypy was measured on the Perceptual Aberration Scale (PAS). Overall, schizotypic (high PAS) subjects performed more poorly than control (low PAS) subjects on the WCST; specifically, schizotypic subjects showed deficits on the failure-to-maintain-set and numb...

Does the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test measure prefontral function?

This review describes a research program aimed at evaluating the validity and specificity of the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), one of the most widely used tests of prefrontal function in clinical and experimental neuropsychology. In spite of its extensive use, voices of caution have arisen against the use of WCST scores as direct markers of prefrontal damage or dysfunction. Adopting a cog...
